Over 100 allied health providers from a number of towns across the Darling Downs attended Darling Downs West Moreton Primary Health Network allied health networking events in May and June.
Allied health professionals from the public and private sectors attended functions at Warwick, Kingaroy, Goondiwindi, Dalby, Chinchilla, Toowoomba and Stanthorpe.
SQRH Interprofessional Practice Co-ordinator Nicola Cotter and other SQRH staff attended the events to present on the topic of “Supporting the Future and Current Health Workforce”.
Nicola said the support from private health providers for student supervision and placement was outstanding and all agreed this was a strategy that would help build sustainable allied health services in rural and remote areas.
“We are looking at a number of innovative models of student placement including shared private and public health service placements, student accommodation options and tele-supervision concepts,” she said.
